3 Outfit Ideas Featuring Sneakers

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

As you’ve seen (or read in our Fall 2015 Trends article), sneakers are becoming more and more popular. However, not everyone is a sneaker person. If you would like to introduce sneakers into your wardrobe but you don’t know where to start, we’ve got some ideas for you. If you’ve already mastered the art of wearing sneakers with your outfits, you can still use these ideas as inspiration.

Boyfriend jeans are stylish and comfortable. Keep up the relaxed look and feel of the boyfriend jeans with a loose-fitting top. Your flannels will go great with a medium wash pair and a light wash will suit your gray tops. A great way to make your sneakers look less like gym shoes is to opt for a white pair. It may be risky to wear white shoes, but if you give them a spot clean from time to time they’ll keep up a whiter appearance for much longer. But who knows, over time, the dirty and distressed look may grow on you!

Skinny jeans are a staple in everyone’s closet. Their versatility allows you to dress them up or down. A medium wash pair and a simple sweater are a great combo for a cleaner look. For a casual and more athletic look, black jeans will do the trick. You can keep it simple by pairing with a white tee or a pullover, or you can even layer them together! Whether you choose to go with a dressier option or a more casual option, you can be assured that you’ll be comfortable either way.

Last but not least, we can’t forget the crowd favorite: leggings! In terms of comfort, leggings trump them all. Paring longer shirts and sweaters that cover your behind with leggings is a perfect way to get away with wearing them as pants. With this look, try out sneakers of fun colors, textures, or both! An all black ensemble is the perfect foundation to add a bright sneaker. Suede and velvet are really big trends this season, so if you haven’t introduced them into your wardrobe yet, starting with your sneakers is a bold way to go!

I think we can all agree that we wear sneakers for comfort. However, you don’t have to sacrifice style to be comfortable. Sneakers may not be the dressiest option, but with the right pair, they can still make your outfit a showstopper!
