We’re all gladiators, so we all posses the power to handle our problems. Whether you’re in a spur of the moment crisis or fall quarter just hit you way too hard and you haven’t had a chance to get back on your feet, we’ll help you get it together in no time. We’ve gathered a few life lessons we’ve learned from Scandal’s Olivia Pope and created a five-step guide to handling your problems.
Step one: Gather the troops
In this case, your troops are anything that will help you make the process easier—for example, a friend, a glass of wine, a bowl of popcorn, or any other comfort foods available. Whether you’re having an issue with your friendships, relationships, or schoolwork, you can handle it. With a reliable and trustworthy troop, you’ll be ready to tackle anything.
Step two: Dissect the problemSometimes, there’s a simple solution to the problem whether you can see it right away or not. When in crisis, you stress about any and everything, even if it’s nothing major. Taking the problem apart (alone or with your troop) will allow you to see just how big it really is.
Step three: Weigh the outcomes and have a plan BAt this point, you should be able to realize that not every problem is actually a problem. What’s the worst that can happen if you went with this solution over that one? After the problem is handled, will the stress be worth it? Also, have back up plans. We all can attest to the fact that things don’t always go according to plan. Having multiple solutions to fix your problem is not only efficient in the moment, but it is also a very helpful skill to have in the long run.
Step five: Handle it
Since you’ve figured out what deserves your time and what does not, you should know how much energy to exert on each problem that comes your way. After you’ve collected all the necessary data, it’s time to take action.
Every problem, regardless of how big, can be solved. Always remember that you’re a gladiator in a suit and no scandal is too big for you to handle. Thanks for teaching us how to get things done, Olivia Pope!
