Job postings for A-round are only a few short weeks away from being available! If you are a spring/summer co-op student here at Drexel, it’s time to start thinking about where to apply this year if you haven’t already. Whether you’ve already worked your dream job or you’re still working through the ranks, this list is a great way to find out what other students in your major are aspiring to. We asked students in a variety of majors what companies or jobs they believe are the best based on their industry.

Nursing

“Any kind of position in CHOP. We have different levels of co-op. Level one is where you shadow a doctor. Level two is more hands-on. You get to take vital signs and practice assessments. And level three you get to do some more stuff with meds, which helps you practice before you get your license.” -Kristin (Nursing, Class of 2019)

Business

“It would be at a Big Four firm; I’ve heard a lot of great things about Goldman. It’s a great introduction into the world of finance while providing a lot of great contacts and learning experiences, but it really depends on the major. Like finance or accounting would go to Goldman or BlackRock, but a marketing major would want to work for a company that has national marketing campaigns.” -Lindsey (Operations and Supply Chain Management, Class of 2017)

“Everyone depending on their major has different preferences and goals. Some accounting majors want to work for one of the big four accounting firms, others would prefer a non-profit. Comcast is one of the well-known employers for business majors because they are a large company with a vast number of co-op positions. When looking for a co-op I was in search of a structured Co-Op Program, which is why I chose Cigna. In my opinion co-op is a time to explore and to work in different industries.” -Emily (Management Information Systems, Class of 2019)

Design & Merchandising

“I would probably say at a big name fashion company like Michael Kors or Nicole Miller! Something along those lines because working with an established brand that has a good reputation can help you get your foot in the door and demonstrate that you’re ready to roll with the big boys.” -Rachel (D&M, Class of 2019)

Chemical Engineering

“I’d say the number one place is Shell because it is a challenging job, it’s tough to get hired by shell and it’s financially rewarding.” -Tapiwa (Chemical Engineering, Class of 2018)

Civil Engineering

“As for civil engineers probably a company like AECOM or Jacobs Engineering because they do big projects where the designs are never the same. You learn a lot, but sometimes in engineering you can get just as good experience, if not better, at smaller companies.” -Marc (Civil Engineering, Class of 2019)

This list is by no means all-inclusive. There are tons of amazing places in the Steinbright Career Development Center’s online database and even more opportunities if you do an independent co-op search. However, if you’re ambitious and looking to aim high this time around you may want to see if you can land an interview with some of the most well-known names in your industry listed above.
