I’m sure I’m not the only one who stalks the Mac Mart truck on all their social media platforms to see where their next destination will be. We all hope to see the beautiful pink truck on our way to classes to tame our cheesy cravings.
We were #blessed when they first announced on August 29, 2015, that they were going to open a store. Since then, Mac Mart lovers have tried to guess where the storefront was going to be located. In April, Mac Mart officially announced that they would be opening their doors at 104 S. 18th S. in Rittenhouse Square.
As a Mac Mart lover, I couldn’t wait for it to open. I checked their social media multiple times so I could plan my schedule around their grand opening. Every day, I would log in and find nothing about it, but on the night of May 17 right before bed, my friend tagged me on their Instagram post that announced that they were going to open the very next day.
We thought there were going to be terrible lines to wait for the gooey goodness – after all, this truck is really popular. When we arrived, we were surprised that not many people were there. I was their seventh customer. The place is small, with six or seven bar-style seats by the window, but there is still a cozy atmosphere.

You have the possibility to choose from their “classic creations” or make your own bowl and add whatever toppings and condiments are available. I am very traditional, so I went for their OG Marts Mac and added some tater tots to it. I later regretted that I didn’t add fresh mozzarella or crunchy fried onions. My friend ordered the jalapeño pesto mac and cheese with the fresh mozzarella and it was to die for! The balance between the spiciness of the jalapeño and the gooey cheese was overwhelmingly delicious. My other friend decided on pesto chicken mac and cheese with tater tots and panko crumbs, which was a little heavier, but equally as good. And I’m not saying that just because she almost finished her entire bowl, but because I don’t expect anything less from my favorite food truck.
They have other classic creations that I am dying to try like The Rittenhouse, which has garlic sautéed spinach, artichoke dip and potato chip panko crunch, or the Margherita Mac, which has diced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and crisp basil! They will also be serving their Mac Sammy (the amazing mac and cheese sandwich) and other mac and cheese twists on different days of the week.
Make sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to learn more about their menu and schedule! Are you ready to get your mac on?
