While Duke girls love complaining about how tiring, long, and regulated girls rush is, weÂ
Â
should all take a step back and think about the men’s rushing process and how lucky weÂ
Â
truly are…
Â
Â
1. Firstly, we never have to make the first move. At recruitment at the Convention Center,Â
Â
girls are approached by a sorority sister and instantly engaged in conversation. Men, on theÂ
Â
other hand, must go up to brothers and initiate their own conversations. It is completely upÂ
Â
to them to make the impression and carry on the conversation.
Â
Â
2. Boys are judged in party settings. Imagine having to dance and socialize at recruitment.Â
Â
Not every girl is a party girl, and fortunately, freshmen girls are not judged on how wellÂ
Â
they can rage.
Â
Â
3. We don’t have to decide how to split our time. While the boys may be dealing withÂ
Â
multiple events on the same night or at the same time and must choose which frat toÂ
Â
prioritize, girls do not have to deal with this dilemma and make tough decisions.
Â
Â
4. Recruitment is shorter than guys’ rush. AND we don’t have to come back early fromÂ
Â
winter break.
Â
Â
5. We get to celebrate at the end of it! While girls are showered with hugs, pictures, andÂ
Â
excitement, boys get to look forward to a semester of hazing and misery as pledges.
Â
Â
We have a lot to be thankful for, ladies.
