There are always multiple people wearing the same costume at every Halloween party: Dorothy, any Disney princess, and this year, strangely: Angry Birds characters, but let’s celebrate the unique.  Here are the top five best costumes I saw this Halloween weekend:

5) Solo Cup
The solo cup costume I saw consisted of an all-red outfit and a giant plastic red cup hanging off the wearer’s
shoulders by two ropes.  Although I have seen attempts at a solo cup costume before, this was by far the best because of its quality.  He didn’t just wear all red and write “SOLO” on his T-shirt: he bought (or possibly made) a giant solo cup and spray painted “SOLO” on it instead.  The costume was awesome because when he took the cup off everyone else could take pictures ‘drinking’ out of it.  However, it was very heavy and got in the way at the crowded party. In the end, he had to take it off, leaving him with a red shirt and pants as a costume.

4) Cast of Mario Kart
Halloween morning I was walking on the BC plaza when the entire cast of Mario Kart sped past me in their invisible carts powered by their legs with their hands out on their invisible steering-wheels.  (I believe Mario won the race if anyone is following the Mushroom Cup.)  Their costumes were the typical ones you’d find in a costume store, but their dedication to their characters was hilarious (see here).

3) Minions from Despicable Me
This is a great way to incorporate your lab goggles into your costume, pre-meds.  Four girls in my dorm dressed in overalls, yellow T-shirts, headbands with what looked like minion hair, and lab goggles.  It was definitely the cutest group costume I saw.

2) Amish People on RumspringaThis was by far the most creative idea I saw this weekend: an Amish person leaving their community for the first time.  It was especially funny because the “Amish people” were at a college party, which would probably be one of the biggest culture shocks of all to an Amish person.  However, it was not exactly a full costume, consisting only of a beard and hat. The idea was cooler than the actual costume.

1) Franzia Boxed Wine

The best costume ever!  This took the solo cup idea to a new level.  As seen in the picture, the girl made a person-sized replica of a Franzia box, with a built-in spout attached to a bag filled with real Franzia.  Although the bag was probably heavy, the attention she got at the party was definitely worth it.  Everyone was asking, “Where’s the Franzia girl?”
