How to Throw a Spook-tastic Halloween Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

For some of us in Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total sl*t and no other girls can say anything about it. But for others, it may represent the kickoff into holiday season, a reminder of our childhood, a day to celebrate all horror movies and scaring the crap out of our friends/strangers, or what have you!

Now if this doesn’t get you in the autumn cheer and ready to throw down in Halloween dorm party renown, you need to wrap yourself up in your coziest scarf, run…or walk briskly to your nearest café and get a nice steaming mug of a seasonal flavor (Pumpkin Spice Latte, heeey!), or just scroll through this slideshow of funny animal costumes.

Decorations
Decorations set the mood of the party, so you can go as scary or cutesy as you desire.

  1. Cobwebs are a must. They’re affordable and add some flare to any dull, bare corner. Tangle some plastic spiders or other goodies in for extra spice!

  2. Use construction paper and crepe paper to make giant candy corn, ghosts, spiders, skeletons, jack-o-lanterns, etc.
  3. Use empty milk gallon jugs to make cute ghost-y illuminations and line a whole wall! Just cut and paste faces using black construction paper. Add white string lights and voila!

Drinks
