Who has been your biggest influence/inspiration?
My dad, who served in the Air Force throughout my childhood and has taught me so many things about love and sacrifice. He is such a selfless person and always puts his family first which I have always admired growing up. He’s inspired me to preserve through adversity and to never give up throughout my life.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully married, raising a golden retriever puppy as though it’s my first child. I hope I feel like I’m making a difference in my career in healthcare while sporting my snazzy white coat.
What has been the best thing about your Duke experience so far? Worst?
I love the camaraderie and team spirit that encompasses campus, especially during basketball season.
What’s your secret talent?
I am weirdly good at finding four leaf clovers. I always seem to find them in the most random situations, like in the middle of a lacrosse practice or just walking around outside.
Why did you decide Duke?
I wanted to pursue the best premed path I could pave for myself and Duke ended up being my best option offered.
What are some of the things you do outside of class?
I am involved in Army ROTC and volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Durham. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family and cooking/baking.
What’s your favorite smell?
The smell of Christmas, with a fresh cut pine tree and candles lit around the house with a cozy fire in the fireplace and cookies in the oven.
What risks are worth taking?
Risks that challenge you to better yourself as a person and force you to step outside your comfort zone. Risks that scare the crap out of you initially but later you can look back and be grateful you pursued them.
Is there any question you wished I asked but didn’t?
Team Nugget vs. Team Peaches? Just kidding, that’s not a question- Team Nugget all the way.
