Now that spring break is over and we are all rejuvenated, it’s time to get organized to finish the year strong! I’m fairly certain the last thing people want to do after finishing a hard midterm is clean up their mess of old coffee cups and papers. But, spring-cleaning is the perfect time to put away your winter coats and get organized for the approaching season known as “finals.” Here are five quick tips to get your room looking its best!
- Make piles! Piles of paper on your desk and piles of clothes on your bed.
- Sort through those piles. You’ll realize there are so many things you no longer need.
- Make even more piles! Make a pile for things you want to keep/clean and things you want to throw away/donate.
- Start your laundry and while you’re waiting for it to finish, put away the things you want to keep and get rid of the things you don’t.
- Fold and hang your clothes! Your closet will thank you. And with nice, clean sheets, hop into bed and relax!
Now take that donation pile and check out these great ways to give back to the community:
- Plato’s Closet – They buy gently used clothes/accessories and sell them for up to 70% off their original prices. Plus, they are conveniently located next to Southpoint Mall.
- The Salvation Army – Located on Hillsborough Rd in Durham. They are always excited to receive new donations!
- Keep a look out for tabling on the BC Plaza where you can easily get rid of unwanted clothes and other items.
Donating is a great way to recycle clothing and will be greatly appreciated by its new owners. Instead of throwing away what you don’t want anymore, remember to recycle! Not only will you be helping the environment, you will also help someone who sees your unwanted jacket as next winter’s hottest piece!
