Title: White Walls No More

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

As promised, Her Campus Duke is sharing more ideas to spruce up your room for a new look in the new year.

The easiest way to make your room to feel more like home and less like a jail cell is to cover those white walls! Here are a few cheap and simple ways to decorate the walls of your room and add personality to your space.

Construction Paper

Simple, easy, and less than $5 from your local office supply store. Just tape the construction paper to your wall, using whatever color scheme matches the items already in your room. You don’t have to paint the wall before the end of the school year, and it shouldn’t take you more than an hour to put up.

Try some different designs and share them with Her Campus Duke!

Wrapping Paper

You’ll probably need a helping hand for this project, but the application is the same. Just tape the wrapping paper to the wall and it becomes instant wallpaper—just much easier and much cheaper! Make sure you’ve measured the wall first so you know how many rolls to buy. These sites have adorable designs:

Did you find a great pattern? Share it with other Her Campus Duke readers!

Sabrina is a Junior at Duke University, and is double majoring in English and Public Policy. A born and bred South African, Sabrina has traveled to the USA to pursue her higher education. As well as being a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Sabrina is also Assistant Vice President for Recruitment for the Panhellenic Association at Duke. Sabrina has written for Duke's daily newspaper, The Chronicle and Duke's fashion magazine, FORM. After graduating, she hopes to attend law school preferably in her favourite city, New York. In her spare time, Sabrina vegges out to various fashion blogs, mindless TV (Pretty Little Liars anyone?) and online shopping (which borders on an addiction). If you manage to catch her in an energetic mood, she's probably on her way to cardiodance (or to the nearest mall).
