Your New Olympic Crushes
USA Men’s Slopestyle Ski Team— All four of them!
If you didn’t watch the Men’s Slopestyle Skiing at Sochi on February 13th, you missed out. Not only was it an exciting competition as skiers hurled themselves off of rails and jumps into crazy spins, flips, corks, and something called the Screamin’ Seamann, but the guys representing the USA took home the Gold, Silver, AND Bronze (and 9th). You probably haven’t heard of any of these boys before the Olympics, but they are about to become your new favorite athletes.
Nick Goepper:
If you aren’t yet following this Bronze Medal Winner on Twitter, you should start. Now. Nick Goepper is pretty much your typical 19-year-old guy, except he has no commitment issues. In fact, committing to something is fundamental to this guy’s existence. He’s spent his whole life committed to his ski training, which in Indiana isn’t exactly easy. He’s in incredibly great shape, and has a great sense of humor.
Nick loves his mother, his cat, and Katy Perry. And he hates cleaning his room. You probably have a ton in common, unless you’re a dog person (sorry). For those of you who are obsessed already, according to US Weekly, Nick is actively looking for a date. If you want to be the lucky winner of US Weekly’s Nick-dates-a-fan contest, all you have to do is catch Nick’s attention on Twitter!
Gus Kenworthy:
If you’re more of a dog lover, then Silver Medalist Gus Kenworthy is the skier for you. While most athletes have been shocked and annoyed by the stray dog problem at Sochi, Gus has decided to save as many canines as he can by taking them home! I mean, I don’t think I need to say any more. How can you not like a guy surrounded by this many cute dogs?!
Joss Christensen:
There are 3 simple reasons Joss should be your Olympic crush.
1. After winning gold, the first thing Joss did (even before celebrating with his teammates) was hug his mother.
2. He has floppy blonde hair.
3. He’s a freakin’ Olympic champion. Gold. Medalist.
Bobby Brown:
While you’re enjoying the breakfast of champions with medalists Christensen, Kenworthy and Goepper, don’t forget about Bobby Brown. Brown only finished in 9th place – but if you ask me that is still super impressive. Despite being the lowest qualifier, Brown was a great sport and remained supportive of his teammates in the final. He’s also 6’2”, an added bonus.
