This is your home for a year so personalising it and making it comfortable is a must!
Photographs – so important! When moving into a new environment or away from home for the first time, photographs are an important part of the transition. Having friendly faces from home on your walls can be really comforting and it’s really lovely updating your walls with pictures of your new uni pals as the year goes on.
Wall decor – bunting, world map, giant flowers, literally anything. This is your space for the year, yours to personalise how you choose. Walls can be very representative of your personality and can be the perfect way of expressing yourself – get creative!
Throws, blankets, pillows – Durham is cold, and if you’re living in your own home this year, the bills can come as a bit of a nasty shock. I’ve learnt that the way to combat this is to pretty much live in a blanket fort all day long. There is no such thing as too many blankets.
Candles and fairylights – mood lighting is so important. I’ve always been a massive fan of fairy lights – I love turning a mundane uni room into an atmospheric wonderland with mood lighting.
