New Season Knitwear

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Durham chapter.

It’s time to put aside the old christmas jumpers of the festive season and flood your wardrobe with an influx of fresh, new knitwear that’ll keep you looking cool, yet ever so cosy in the chilly Spring months. From statement jumpers to knitted dresses there are plenty of new trends, colours and textures to choose from, inspired by the Spring/ Summer 2015 catwalk collections. Here’s my pick of the best new jumpers and knitwear out now on the High Street.

1. Although florals may seem an obvious choice for Spring fashion, this season’s catwalks push the trend further by injecting their shows with bold, statement florals as seen at Elle Saab and Valentino. Electric, geometric patterns also featured in jumpers seen at Missoni and House of Holland.

a) Latoya Scuba Jumper by Another 8, Topshop £40

          b) mulit colour floral jumper, Dorothy Perkins £24

          c) Digital print knitted jumper, Topshop £45

2. Knitted dresses are also a hot trend forecasted for S/S 2015, with designers such as  Alexander Wang and Kenzo featuring them in their collections. Easy to throw on, knitted dresses will keep you warm and stylish for the remaining winter months.

a)ASOS Tunic In Structured Knit With Turtle Neck & Side Split £45
b)Roll neck body con dress, Miss Selfridge £32
c) High Neck Knitted Jumper Dress in Grey, Misguided £25.00

3. The roll neck and polo neck trend of A/W 2014 seems to be continuing further into the new year, and it’s not hard to see why. Be sophisticated and snug by making a polo neck your new wardrobe staple.

a) EMMA COWL NECK SOFT KNIT JUMPER £20.
b) Beige polo neck, £39.99, H&M
c)Roll Neck Crop Sweater Price: £28.00 Topshop

4) Soft, barely there neutrals seemed to feature heavily on the S/S 15 catwalks, with hazy greys and dreamy whites heavily dominating many designers colour palates. Make your jumper greyscale to be bang on trend this season.

a) CREAM TEXTURED KNITTED CROP TOP, River Island £30.00
b) Elmvale Merino Crew in Grey, Jack Wills £49.50
c) ECRU / BLACK Knitted jumper, Zara £45.99

5) Follow in the footsteps of the designers Preen and Paul Smith by wearing stripes this season. This year saw the revival of the breton jumper, so invest in stripes now and get a piece that will easily transition you into the spring and summer seasons.

a) Striped Funnel Neck Crop Sweater £30.00, Topshop.
b) New Look Stripe Jumper, £19.99
c) JOYCE STRIPE KNITTED JUMPER, Missguided £19.99
