Campus Cutie – Will Lavelle

Age: 20

Year of Study: Third

Subject: Engineering

College: Trevelyan

Hometown: Warwick

1 – How does it feel to be Campus Cutie?

Hilarious.

2 – Are you single or in a relationship? (Careful)

Umm… In a relationship sadly. Oh wait, don’t put that word in.

3 – What do you look for in a girl?

A sense of humour and someone that is interested in life.

4 – How do you woo a woman?

[Laughs] With difficulty.

5 – What’s your go-to chat up line?

(10 mins later we both realise he doesn’t have one. Scores a solid 0/10).

5.1 – (We re-visit this question)

I don’t ever really use chat up lines. What I usually do is tell a really bad joke, and if she laughs, I’ve found a good one. I’d do something really silly, as I like to see someone’s fun side.

6 – Why Durham girls?

I like a girl that aims high, and wants to be successful. Durham’s a great Uni and I find intelligence very attractive.

7 – What is your perfect date?

A chilled music gig and then a chocolate fondue. (I’m still awaiting a chocolate fondue…)

8 – Describe your perfect date in Durham?

We would have a picnic on Observatory Hill at sunset. (Note – I have never been treated to a picnic on Observatory Hill at sunset…)

9 – Klute or Loveshack?

It depends where the mood takes me. I’d be tempted to say Klute, it’s cheaper and can be a lot of fun, even if empty. Loveshack was once so empty a friend and I fell asleep in the camper van. Managed a solid 45 minute nap though, couldn’t get that in Klute.

10 – Life ambition?

That’s a tough one, there’s a lot I want to do in life. I’d say success is my ambition. Really getting into a decent job and nailing it. Running a big business, turning it around and making it successful.

11 – Biggest achievement?

I don’t know if it’s my biggest achievement, but I once performed stand-up comedy in a show in the West End. It went down really well and I was pretty chuffed with that.

12 – Advice for a girl trying to woo a guy?

Just be genuine. If he likes you for someone you’re not, it will never work. You won’t enjoy it and neither will he. Oh, and laugh. All the time. Smiling girls always get the guys, and there’s nothing more satisfying to a guy than making the girl he likes laugh.

13 – Is it true you pick your girlfriends through interview process?

Umm not intentionally. Is this actually a question?

Yes…

That did happen, but I wasn’t aware I was interviewing her to be my girlfriend at the time.

14 – How long did it take for you to ask her out?

I’ve always been a bit confused with the labelling system of “going out”. Officially I’m not sure, but I think we started using the phrase boyfriend/girlfriend after quite a long time.

15 – Did you ask her out somewhere really romantic?

Outside a bar…

16 – Which bar?

I knew you would do this… outside Klute.

Hey! I am a second year student at Durham University studying Sociology and Anthropology. I love writing and spending time with people and so cannot wait to start a HerCampus Chapter at Durham.
