The Classic Date: A Movie Night for Valentines Day

Whether you are spending the day solo, having a girls’ night, or out on that special date, a movie night is the perfect Valentine’s Day treat. With many movies premiering on or before Valentine’s Day you have plenty of options to choose from. Here are a few choices for you but be sure to preorder tickets as theaters fill quickly on Valentine’s Day.

Rom-Coms

This cast of cuties, Zac Effron, Miles Teller, and Michael B. Jordan, will leave you and your girlfriends drooling. “That Awkward Moment” premiered January 31st and is all about the awkwardness that accompanies a new relationship. And who doesn’t wan’t Zac Effron as their Valentine?

“Cavemen”, which premiers February 7th, is a dramatic comedy about finding true love with the help of your best friend. The cast is composed entirely of eye candy, Chad Michael Murray, Skylar Astin, and Camilla Belle, to name a few. “Cavemen” is the perfect, mushy, gushy movie for a girls’ night. A happy ending is almost guaranteed.

In “Someone Marry Barry”, Tyler Labine stars as Barry, a socially awkward and quite annoying man. Barry’s friends believe that if they can find someone to marry Barry, they won’t have to put up with him anymore. All hell breaks loose when Barry finds a woman just like him, Melanie, played by Lucy Punch. Someone Marry Barry premieres one week before Valentine’s Day and is sure to leave you laughing.

A remake of the 1986 film by the same name, “About Last Night” features love gone wrong, and right. Can a couple survive the break up of their best friends? Set in L.A., “About Last Night’s” star-studded cast consists of Kevin Hart, Joy Bryant, Regina Hall, and Bryan Callen. Be sure to preorder your tickets as this movie premieres on Valentine’s Day.

Dramas

A new Nicholas Sparks movie may not be premiering this Valentine’s Day but “Labor Day” starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin has been compared to one. Based off the novel by Joyce Maynard, Adele (Winslet) and her sin Henry (Griffith) unintentionally provide a safe haven for an escaped convict (Brolin). Bring some tissues as “Labor Day” promises to be a tearjerker.

Premiering on February 14th, Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde play forbidden lovers in “Endless Love”. This remake of the 1981 film based on the novel by Joshua Safran is the story of the strength of first love. How far will two young lovers go to defy their parents?

The fantasy “Winter’s Tale” features reincarnation, time travel, and love, in addition to Colin Farrell, Jessica Brown Findlay, Jennifer Connelly, Russell Crowe, and Will Smith. In “Winter’s Tale”, a time travelling burglar falls in love with a mysterious woman who dies in his arms and will go to the ends of the Earth to find her and save her. Be sure to catch this movie when it premieres on Valentine’s Day.

Action

“The Outsider” is a great date option if you don’t want to torture your boyfriend or yourself with a love story. Reminiscent of “Taken”, “The Outsider” is far from your typical Valentine’s Day movie (it premieres the 7th); it stars Craig Fairbrass, a military man who goes through hell and high water to rescue his missing daughter.
