We all know Valentine’s Day is stressful. Crafting can be overwhelming, surprises can so easily get ruined after a drink or two, and picking out the right gift can always be hard. Shopping for guys is a difficult thing and they can often be hard to please, but here are a few do it yourself ideas that won’t disappoint.
1. Make him a card
It’s a lot easier than it sounds, especially thanks to pinterst for inspiration. But homemade cards are the perfect oppurtunity to include funny inside jokes between the two of you, or a sweet handwritten note filled with things that you feel you can’t say out loud, or things that you dont say enough.
2. The Beer Cake
This one can often be kind of challenging. I highly recommend not going with this gift if you intend on travelling with it somewhere. If you’re going to dinner and for sure coming back to your place, then it would be the perfect thing to have sitting on the table when you guys come home, but these things are not easy to transport. I used cardboard circles to place the beer on and fun tape to keep them in place. PInterest shows a ton of creative ways to include liquor and lottery tickets if you want to do something more creative.
3. Framed Photo/Photo Collage
I always like this idea because I think that getting photos printed is kind of a dying art. So guys naturally dont often think of getting photos printed of the two of you together to have framed in their room. Making a photo collage or album would be a really fun gift, especially if the two of you have been together for a long time. Putting them in cronolgical order would be a fun way to go through all your memories together.
4. Baked Goods
Mamma always says that the best way to man’s heart is through his stomach. The next two DIY’s are fullproof. Food never disappoints, especially if you know him well enough to make him his favorite desserts. If it’s a new relationship, baked good are still a safe bet! Everyone loves a good chocolate chip cookie.
5. Homemade Candlelight Dinner
I love this one too, and this is something that doesn’t have to be super fancy. You can make pasta or something really simple and just the fact that you put in the effort to cook a meal for him will show him how much you care. If you really want to go over the top, find out what his all time favorite meal is and go through a trial cooking test to see how it goes, and even if it’s something you aren’t sure you’ll like, he’ll seriously appreciate your efforts. (A for effort) Top it off with his favorite drinks or beer and he’ll be happy.
