With finals week wrapping up and the highly anticipated new season of Game of Thrones being just around the corner, it’s not hard to see that college and Westeros share many things in common. Sometimes it seems like the fight to earn your diploma feels just as hard as the fight for the Iron Throne. Let me explain:
Â
Â
That feeling when you think you’re on top of your eating habits and you feel in pretty good shape
Â
It’s ok to eat everything at the dining hall as long as it looks healthy…right?
Â
Â
Then you go home to visit your family and they share this lovely observation
Â
Thanks, missed you too.
Â
When you have a group project due but no one seems to have time (or so they say) to meet up to work on it
Do you guys really not mind failing something worth 20% of your grade?
Â
Your reaction when the professor randomly calls on you to answer a question that you don’t know
Â
I promise I read the chapters…(or skimmed).
Â
Looking at your class notes after taking a test
Â
You never want to see them again.
Â
When you go to your professor’s office hours and this is all you take away from it
Â
Why couldn’t he just boost your grade for you?
Â
When you were incorrectly marked absent in class and your professor doesn’t believe that you didn’t skip
Â
Sleeping definitely would have been preferable.
Â
When you get that phone call from your parents asking where all your money went
Â
Honesty, college is just stressful.
Â
Going into an exam that you feel really prepared for
Â
You studied long and hard for it, you know everything!
Â
Leaving said exam
Â
Why does it feel like your professors are intentionally out to get you?
Â
When you’re sleep deprived, exhausted, and stressed and people tell you that you simply just need to get more sleep every night
Â
Choosing between grades and sleep is no easy task.
Â
When you’re running late to class but you don’t want to be lectured by the professor
Â
You knew you didn’t have time for breakfast that morning.
Â
When you think you’re doing well in a class and then the professor puts in your last exam grade
Â
Absolutely horrifying.
Â
When you write a paper for a non-English class but the professor grades as if it were
Â
This was supposed to be my least stressful class. Â
When you roll into class because you’re out of excused absencesÂ
Â
Might as well try to be optimistic about it.
Â
When you start taking a test and some of the words look familiarÂ
Â
Boy, is this your lucky day.
Â
Attempting to make conversation with the person you sit next to in your 8am class
Â
Because, quite frankly, that’s all that’s on your mind. Why did you sign up for this again?
Â
When it feels like it’s -50 degrees in your lecture hall
Â
I know it’s 80 outside, but is this really necessary?
Â
How it feels when you’re sitting at your computer waiting for course registration to open
Â
You’re getting the classes you want this time, if it’s the last thing you do.
Â
When finals week is getting closer and you just can’t get it off your mind
Â
Finals are coming.
Â
When you finish the semester with decent grades and can finally relax…
Â
It’s all over.
Â
until next semester
