The Joyner Clock Tower was built between 1997- 1999 and was dedicated to the Langford family. In July 2001, ECU received an 8 million dollar donation from Verona Joyner Langford after her death. She was an ECU alumni. The Joyner Library Clock Tower is thought to be only a clock tower, but many students do not know about its special feature. Throughout the day in a part of the clock tower it will have special things happen. At sunrise, a rooster will pop out and crow. At noon, horns pop out and blast a special tune. At sunset, a cannon comes out and it sounds like a cannon is firing. And at midnight, a jesters head comes out. Some students say it is very eerie. The jester comes out with carnival music playing in the background and it starts to talk in a whisper. It is something every ECU student should see!
