Valentine’s Day is that one day out of the entire year that is dedicated to my favorite topic L-O-V-E. February 14th is an entire day designated to showing your special person how much you love them and appreciate them. But, even if you don’t have a significant other, you can still celebrate! Here are some ways to make your Valentine’s Day full of fun and lovely decorations:

1. Buy or make HEART decorations and lots of them!

Whether you like to buy big and bold red in pink hearts, or you prefer to keep your love on the down low, there is way to make your Valentine’s Day rock. If you live in a dorm or apartment, you can decorate your windows, stairwell (if you have one), fridge, doors and walls! If you go to the store, buy some hearts and other love-related decor to make your room feel like love city. Or, if you want, buy lots of construction paper and make your own hearts.

2. Buy candy

Go to the store, it can be as simple and sweet as the Dollar Tree. Or, if you are willing to spend more money, buy the more posh brands of Chocolate. You buy for your significant other, friends, family and YOU! Make sure not to exclude yourself because you deserve a sweet treat too. A popular thing at college is to place a small bowl of goodies outside your dorm room. People walking by will instantly love you! See, it isn’t hard to spread the love. :)

3. Make your own Valentine’s

This in my opinion is the best part! My professor once said, “letters are a gift.” I couldn’t agree more! If you do not have a lot of time, simply writing, “I appreciate you,” or “thank you for always making me laugh,” shows that you care and are thinking of the person. The thought truly does count. If you love to write, or maybe even just have a lot to say, feel free to write pages upon pages of words. I’m sure the person receiving the message will be delighted! If you are artistic, enjoy yourself and make the card as beautiful and as detailed as possible. If you are not the most artistically talented person, you can glue on little hearts or write a nicely lettered message or quote on the outside. Just have fun and hope that the receiver will smile!

No matter how much you love or don’t love Valentine’s Day, make sure to be extra sweet to those around you. You never know how much good a little kindness can do to them. Have a fantastic time creating your Valentine’s Day preparations. Gather your friends to have them join you–make a little party out of it!
