The 33-year-old singer, songwriter and icon, Adele, is back after what seemed to be the longest five years of my life. This past Tuesday, the singer tweeted “EASY ON ME – OCTOBER 15” with a 21-second clip of what looks to be a new music video. The video posted shows Adele placing a cassette in a cassette player and hundreds of pages of sheet music flying out the back window of an old trailer-hitched car driving down a dirt road. The song sounds amazing and this is no surprise as Adele is a 15-time Grammy winner.
This song however seems to be just the beginning. Around the world, people have noticed the number ‘30’ being projected onto some of the world’s most famous landmarks. This notion has been widely accepted to be a marketing stunt as Adele’s previous albums have also been titled after her age including 19, 21, and her latest 25. Yet, her 30th year seems to have taken quite a toll and made a huge impact on the songwriter as she’s now 33. It is also interesting to note that she had previously stated how 25 is “the last album after my age,” while speaking to James Corden on his show whilst promoting the album.
But what happened in this 30th year? And with that, what will the new songs be about since this 30th year was so eventful? Adele posted to Instagram on her 31st birthday stating how the year had “Tried [her] so hard but [she’s] owning it and trying [her] hardest to lean into it all.” Backtracking throughout that year, Adele had faced troubled times with her then-husband, Simon Konecki. The two had been separated for 5 months prior and upon the turning of 31, she had officially announced their plans for divorce. Adele and Simon had been together for seven years and together have an eight-year-old son, Angelo.
Despite the heartbreak and tough times that Adele endured, it is safe to say it will have a positive impact on her career. I can personally assure you that this album will be incredible. I am trusting in this fact for two reasons: 1, I have already heard a snippet of the new perfect piano melody, and 2, heartbreak coupled with a 15 Grammy award-winning artist would highly unlikely create a bad album.
So will this speculated album include the new “Someone Like You”? One can only hope, but this is guaranteed to be a masterpiece!
