Campus Celebrity: Bean Nelson

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Name: Sabrina (Bean) Nelson

Major: VMA (Visual Media Arts)

Year: Freshman

Hometown: Sandwich, Massachusetts

Bio: You can find Bean in her natural habitat, rolling through the commons on her razor scooter. With her Shrek-themed iPhone in one hand, and her scooter in the other, she lives life on the edge, with no helmet to shield her. She is free.

Favorite Story: “Just a couple of weeks ago, I was run over by a man in a motorized wheelchair. Although it was very painful, and I bled quite a bit – even as it was happening, I was like: ‘This is funny, this is comedy.’ I think about it every day. And I apologized; it was my reflex to apologize for him running over me. Someone could probably murder me and I would say sorry.”

Favorite Movies: “Oh my god. That’s a tough question. Okay. This changes, but I would say my favorite movie of all time is Shrek. A close second place would probably be Tom Hanks, in literally everything he has done. It could just be a picture of Tom Hanks reading a grocery list, and I would be like: ‘Oscar.’”

Dream Job: “My dream job is to be Tina Fey. I want to produce things, but I also want to act in things. I want to be paid for being funny, and I want to never age.”

Life Advice: “Buy Chapstick. To be quite honest with you, I’ve never bought my own chapstick. It’s something I denied myself. So I guess, on a bigger scope, stop denying yourself things that will improve your quality of life, i.e. Chapstick.”

Treasure Island: Bean will be featured in the Emerson “Kidding Around” group’s production of Treasure Island, November 23rd and 24th in the Emerson Cabaret Theater. Playing the character of Long John Silver, she hopes to bring forth the show’s comedic elements through her acting. With the incorporation of swordplay, pirate language and comedy, Treasure Island appeals to all ages.
