Boston Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker is just as magical now as it was when you were a child dreaming of sugar plum fairies. The show includes a whopping 294 dancers, many decked out in hand-crafted ensembles. This includes a large number of Boston Ballet School students, who are all equally adorable as they are talented. Filled with intricate costumes and impeccable choreography, you don’t want to miss this season’s most beloved production.
“Every year I hear from audiences that they cannot miss The Nutcracker. The holiday season simply doesn’t feel complete without it,” says Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen. “The Nutcracker has become one of Boston’s treasures; it’s a tradition for our patrons, our students and our dancers. The magic of the theater—the live music, exquisite sets and costumes and brilliant dancing—continues to enthrall audiences year after year.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the story of The Nutcracker, it follows the Christmas Eve journey of Clara, who is given a nutcracker as a gift at a party, who then comes to life as a prince and leads her through an enchanted forest and into his magical kingdom.
The show is the perfect festive way to end your semester while celebrating the holidays at any of their shows through New Year’s Eve, December 31, with tickets starting at just $35.
