Emerson has always been a chapter that likes to take risks, so emailing the chapter network to spotlight different Her Campus Chapters at other schools was no different. One of the schools that we decided to introduce to you is the chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champiagn. This large chapter currently has over 100 members and is made up of three different departments that help the chapter run smoothly. They have a social team, an editorial team, and a public relations team.Β

Since the chapter is so large, it makes sense that the executive board is large as well. They have a team of 11 members who work to make the chapter as successful as it is. Their positions are as follows:Β

  • Sam Schrage – Co-President

  • Talia Marcus – Co-President

  • Melanie Marin – VP of Editorial

  • Noa Cole – VP of PR

  • Megan Bradley – Co-VP of Social

  • Sarah Cohn – Co-VP of Social

  • Shalyn Culloton – Event Coordinator

  • Grace Lenthang – Event Coordinator

  • Grace Niezyniecki – Event Coordinator

  • Jordan Tullman – Campus Liaison

  • Danni Cole – Campus Liaison

The chapter recently held a fitness theme week that they wanted to highlight! The articles that they published were as follows:Β

In addition to the content that they have written, the chapter loves focusing on charity work, and prides itself on holding two large events each year to help raise money. The first event that they run is called Glamourland and is going to raise money for Girls on the Run. This event is a beauty and wellness event that the chapter puts on every year. They are really looking forward to this event since they have put a lot of work into securing donations, selling tickets, and organizing the event. There will be appetizers and drinks, makeup, pop up shops, and many more exciting things for attendees to experience!Β

The other large scale event that the chapter runs each year is Get Fit. For this event, the chapter holds a group fitness class for their members, and it happens every spring. They also hold a variety of internal events for their chapter to bond and spend quality time together while creating lasting memories!Β

While the chapter spends a lot of time focused on their content and their events, they really want to shift that focus toward their member retention and participation. They want all of their members to be active participants, even though they have a large chapter. Their goal is to find the best way to allow everyone to have input and share their voice, which continuing to host fun events and produce high quality content.Β

If you are looking to get involved with HC Illinois, you can send them a direct email to hc.illinois@hercampus.com to let them know you are interested! If you are looking to join, the CCs want to make sure that you know how much they love showing school spirit, and that they really want your help in becoming more involved on campus!Β

Finally, we asked the chapter to describe themselves in three words, to which the CCs responded: β€œGiving: We love to give back to our community in any way we can; Fierce: We want all our members to be strong, confident women, Loyal: We love supporting our school!”
