Emerson’s Power Team

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Alex Clarke and Daniel Park are one powerful duo. As Co-Executive Producers of the Nation Broadcasting Society’s (NBS) Spring Digital Narrative, these Emersonians are definitely Campus Celeb material. The NBS Digital Spring Narrative is a full-fledged production that NBS does every year. The organization uses a digital camera to shoot a short student film. The film is chosen from a pool of submitted screenplays.

Her Campus Emerson: What are you involved with here on campus?

Alex Clarke:On campus I’m involved in National Broadcasting Society, Emerson Independent Video, Women in Motion, I’m the VMA Senator for the Student Government Association and the Production Manager for The 31st Annual EVVY Awards.
Daniel Park:I am on the executive board and president-elect of Phi Alpha Tau. Besides the National Broadcasting Society, I executive produce a show for the Emerson Channel. I’m also involved in Emerson Independent Video, and ASIA.

HCE: What is the Spring Narrative this year?

AC: The Spring Narrative is National Broadcasting Society’s yearly undertaking of a short fictional film. This year, we are producing a script called The Cleaning Crew, which focuses on two characters, Jim Fletcher and Ray Mealey, who clean up gruesome crime scenes illegally. We meet them as Ray decides he wants out of the shady corporation so he can make a better life of himself. What they find is it’s not as easy to get out of the corporation as Ray might think.

HCE: What is your favorite part of the Spring Narrative?

DP:My favorite part about the production has been the learning opportunities. Being in charge of producing a film, I got to learn a lot about the process. I felt as if I already knew about making films, but this experience has made me realized that so much goes into the production that you’d never even think about. Getting to work with a lot of gore and the same camera (Arri Alexa) that The Avengers used was pretty rewarding too.

HCE: When can we see the show?

DP:The premiere will be April 30th, where any of our Kickstarter backers in attendance can receive their rewards. We’re about to undergo a large marketing campaign to drum up interest, so keep on the lookout. We’ll also be holding a blood drive for charity around that time!
