November is an odd month for music. You are tempted to start listening to Christmas music, but you know it is too early. Except you jam out to Michael Buble Christmas on Pandora anyways! Or at least, that’s what I do…Though Christmas music is great (despite our detest for the jingles after a solid week of listening), there’s a lot of great music out right now! Take a listen before you divulge in the Christmas spirit and stay in Fall for a little longer.
Love Song
“Let Her Go” by Passenger.

Passenger is a British-folk band that has been around since 2003. Up until now, their music was pretty underground. The band broke up in 2007, and Mike Rosenberg, the lead singer, created a solo career. His 2012 album, All the Little Lights, has been well received by critics. His hit song, “Let Her Go” tells the story of a man’s regret for allowing the woman he loves feel unwanted, so she leaves. Rosenberg has an incredibly unique voice, and his lyrics are poignant. This song is worth a few listens, as is the album.Â
Party Jam
“24 Hours” by Sky Ferreira
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxFsYafTLRk
Just try listening to this song, and not getting it stuck in your head for hours. Go, I dare you! 21-year-old Sky has a few singles to her name: her biggest was “Obsession” in 2010, which would have made her 18 years old– casual. “24 Hours” comes off her third album, Night Time, My Time. This young lady’s fierce voice and cool style is not so different from that of Miley Cyrus, but this catchy tune is irresistible on its own. Blast it when getting ready to go out, when you are with friends, or request it at a party.
Throwback
“I Try” by Macy Gray
Remember Macy Gray? She sang the theme song for As Told By Ginger. She also went to the MTV VMAs looking like this. Her song “I Try” earned her a 2001 Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocalist. Let’s just take this time for some nostalgia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JctkC0XbzA
