A few years ago, I was lucky enough to spend three weeks in Italy with my family. I absolutely adored every part of the experience, from the breathtaking art to the delicious food to the beautiful nature. Here are just a few fun things to do on your trip to Italy.

Ride a gondola in Venice. Sure, it’s definitely a tourist thing, but for good reason. The views of  Venice’s streets and gorgeous waters as you ride along in your gondola are unparalleled. Honestly, riding a gondola is pretty much a necessary thing to do when you visit Italy.

Try some of the delicious food. Italian cuisine is so incredible, and I highly suggest eating as much of it as you can while you’re in Italy. From pasta to pizza to gelato and so on, all of it is rich, flavorful, and amazing.

Check out some art museums! Italy possesses wonderful art museums and galleries that one could spend hours upon hours in, observing all of the masterpieces. Of course, the Vatican is full of incredible art, and the Galeria de la Academia in Florence is home to the iconic David statue by Michelangelo, but there are plenty of other underrated art museums and galleries, like Palazzo Altemps in Rome and the Vasari Corridor in Florence, that have amazing art as well.

Spend some time in the Piazza San Marco. This piazza is the central point of Venice, and it’s full of many incredible places to check out. From adorable gelaterias to astonishing churches to even an ancient palace, this is a place I recommend spending hours in, just taking in all the sights and sounds. It’s a must-see, in my opinion.
