Get Involved!: A glance at emerging Emerson organizations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.
From Acappellics Anonymous to Quidditch, Emerson is popular for its host of unique organizations. With so many student groups, however, sometimes it’s easy to miss out on the one that matches your interests perfectly, no matter what those interests may be. For those still lacking in extracurriculars, here’s more information on several groups that have either recently launched or that you just might not have heard about yet.

EmEvents: EmEvents is an emerging organization that provides students with the opportunity to participate in the planning, managing, and creative process of events, both inside and outside the Emerson community. Under the tag line “We make it happen,” the group works to provide a professional setting for students to get first-hand experience of what it’s like to be event planners. EmEvents will soon be offering outreach programs, designed to connect students with industry experts, through guest speakers and on-site visits. For more information, you can visit the group’s website or follow it on Facebook here.

Emerson College Anime Club: The EC Anime Club offers a place for students who share a love, interest, or appreciation of Anime to gather. The group has already planned several events, such as a movie night and game night, and have also created a blog where students can submit articles about Anime and Japanese culture. To find out more about its upcoming events, visit its Facebook page here, or you can check out its blog here.

Music Unites: Music Unites is a non-profit organization with branches at colleges and universities nationwide, including NYU, Columbia University, and Northwestern. The group is dedicated to bringing together members of the music industry, college community, and students at underfunded inner-city schools through music education programs and concert events. The next upcoming Music Unites Emerson event will be held on March 26, when musicians Rachel Platten (a Music Unites Empowering Women Through Music Ambassador) and Bess Rogers (a member of Ingrid Michaelson’s band) perform to raise money and promote the mission of Music Unites. For more information on Music Unites, visit its website or follow it here on Facebook.
