Walking through Dewey Square in Boston’s financial district on Saturday, October 8th, the atmosphere was one of unwavering perseverance amongst protestors participating in Occupy Boston. There was an undeniable sense of community in the tent village, sandwiched between towering office buildings on a small stretch of grass. Yom Kippur services were going on under a large blue tent, children were blowing bubbles, and there were various group discussions going on all around the square, attend by people of all ages, religions, and gender. Protestors lined the streets and held up signs with slogans like “People Before Profits” “End the Fed” and “Enslaved by Student Loans.” One passing car after another honked to show their support as they drove by, and though the sun beat down on the tents on the 80 degree day, the protestors passed out food, shouted into megaphones, held up signs, and rallied passionately for their cause.Â
