It’s getting to be that time of year. Forget about Hallo-weekend. These three days involve free food and hopefully free groceries as well. Yes, Parents’ Weekend is upon us. It’s the one weekend where dorm rooms are spotless and meetings are put off—well, pushed back at least. But what do you do with your family in-between meal times? Get ready to put on your tour-guide hat, because these are some places that you HAVE to take your parents.
Got an artsy member in the family? Someone who loves Monet more than we love Boloco? Take them over to the Museum of Fine Arts. If your family is here a little earlier in the week, go Wednesday after 4pm—the museum is free to the public!
Another great area for your more art-friendly family members is the South End. There are a ton of galleries in the area. Check out Bromfield Art Gallery for some great pieces, or Bead and Fiber craft store for those Pinterest-lovers in the family.
Thinking about Sunday brunch? Wow your family with the SOWA (South of Washington Street) Market. Everyone can sample Boston’s best food trucks without having to hunt around the city. Everything from great grilled cheese sandwiches to yummy cupcakes can be found here on Sundays. Wander over to the open-air market for great local produce and cool creations from Boston natives.
Love Boston sports? You’re in luck. The Celtics are playing at the TD Garden here in Boston on Sunday, October 21st. Snag tickets for you and your family and get ready to let out your inner sports fan. Don’t feel like sitting through a game? Take your family over to Fenway Park. The Red Sox are no longer playing, but the field still hosts tours of the famous arena.
Be cheesy! Take a duck tour. You won’t regret it. Sure, it looks silly, but it’s a great time. The tours are almost over for the season, so make sure to capitalize on the fun while you still can. It’ll be a quacking- good time. Ha, get it?
Don’t stress out about Parents’ Weekend. Your parents are here to spoil you. Remember, you are in one of America’s most famous cities. There is no shortage of things to do.
