It’s that time of year again! Time for Wilde Press’s 2017 Book Launch!
But let’s back up a little. Wilde Press, Undergraduate Students for Publishing (aka Pub Club)’s publishing house produces two student works per semester, which are voted on by the club’s members. This semester, Sophomore Writing, Literature, and Publishing (WLP), Kyle Labe, and Senior WLP, Allison Rassmann, are the talented authors who were selected; their books went through rounds of editing, copyediting, design, marketing, and more in preparation in order to be read by the Emerson community and beyond. Labe’s Butterflies Behind Glass and Other Stories is a short story collection that explores the theme of growing up through the lens of six unique stories with distinct and captivating characters. Under Floorboards, Under Skin by Rassmann is a horror anthology that delves both into the supernatural and the human psyche.
Both books will be available for purchase at the Book Launch on Tuesday, December 12 at 6:00 pm in the Bill Bordy Theater. In addition to picking up copies of the books, attendees can listen to Labe and Rassman read from and discuss their work, get purchased books signed by the authors, and munch on provided snacks. Books are $8.00 each (cash and Venmo accepted) and all proceeds with go to charity. Butterflies Behind Glass and Other Stories will benefit Planned Parenthood and Under Floorboards, Under Skin’s profits will go toward the Lowell Humane Society. Copies of the latest edition of Generic, Emerson’s only genre fiction specific literary magazine, will also be available free of charge.
