Boston is starting to resemble the fictional kingdom of Arendelle from Disney’s Frozen. Puffy white snow is covering every square inch of the streets. Icy snowflakes fall fast and furiously from the sky. Snow storm after snow storm is shutting down seemingly everything!

Emerson has a handful of snow days in the books already, but what about those to come? They’re almost guaranteed now that this winter has been proven to be the snowiest in a while. For all those days of no school and no work, you can say yes to a lot of things.

Here are the best snow day spots to guarantee a fun filled and productive day “off” from all of your regular, busy lives:

1. The Public Gardens

Venture only a little bit further away from The Common and you have the beautiful Public Gardens which look absolutely gorgeous covered in fluffy, white snow. Do you want to build a snowman?  Build one here, or even on the frozen pond while the Swan Boats are patiently awaiting their springtime debut. Also, if you never had a chance to sled as a child (Californians are aplenty at Emerson), try it out here!

2. A Coffee Shop

Not every coffee shop in Boston will be open, but find one and venture out to it. Bundle up in your cutest scarves and mittens and trek on over! It will be worth it for those adorable pictures of you sipping your coffee or hot cocoa in style. Check social media to find out if The Thinking Cup or Boston Common Coffee Company are open and bring a friend to warm up inside the cafe. Try out a new flavor of coffee or a new treat. Calories don’t count on snow days, right?!

3. Your Dorm

If you’ve got an insanely packed schedule as most Emerson students seem to, spend the snow day reorganizing your life. Do anything you need to do to feel rejuvinated by catching up on homework, rest, or cleaning. The schedule will come back in full force within the next day or so after the snow stops falling, so spend your time organizing yourself. You’ll feel better about stepping out into the slush the next day knowing you had a productive day in during your snow day.

Whatever you do on your next snow day, thank Elsa and “Let it Go!” Snow days don’t happen that often. Have some fun and stay safe, collegiettes!
