Spring Break on a Budget: Four Ways

After shaking off the post-holiday-back-to-school blues and putting our noses to our books for a few months, we’re rewarded with Spring break: a time – ideally – to kick back, relax, and recharge before we head back to school again. There are many ways to spend this glorious reprieve from our studies, but one option that isn’t available to everyone is spending money on extravagant vacations. Fortunately, I’ve come across five (out of many) ways to enjoy the break without having to cough up major dough:

1. Volunteer ! Look for opportunities to help the community by giving back. A website like www.volunteermatch.org is perfect for connecting people with the closest organizations to you.

2. Self-reflect ! Between school and work commitments and family and friends, there can be little to no “me” time. Take this time to reconnect with you.

3. Explore ! Are there any museums, galleries, shops, or trails near you? Yes? Go visit them. Are you familiar with the next town over? Go see it. If you haven’t you’ll be in for a treat and if you have you never know what you may find this time around.

4. Treat yourself ! Stay up late, eat several helpings of your favorite dessert, catch up on your favorite show, whatever you decide to do – enjoy.
