The Stages of Having an Early Morning Class

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

  1. Pushing the boundaries of your alarm to see how late you can set it and still make it to class before attendance.

  2. Pushing snooze on your alarm because it’s part of your morning routine.

  3. Closing your eyes for a couple more minutes without hitting snooze or setting a timer and then freaking out about what time it is.

  4. Having to go through the stages of grief over having to leave the warmth of your bed for the cold, unforgiving world of morning classes. (This includes telling yourself you can nap later, even though you know it’s a complete lie.)

  5. Debating over whether you want to put effort into how you look to pretend that morning classes don’t faze you, or if you want to show the world how dead you are inside when you have to be in a classroom before 9:00 AM.

  6. Placing your need for caffeine before making it to class on time, whether you’re getting your fix at home or grabbing something on the way to class.

  7. Making sure your professor sees how done you are when you first walk into class to minimize the chances of being called on at some point.
