Your Guide to Swimming in Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

As great as the commons is, sometimes it is just too hot to spend the day laying out in the sun. On days like these all I want is to go swimming. Swimming in the city, but how?! Well let me tell you! I have found the best swimming spots in Boston that you should definitely check out.

Magazine Beach Bath House and Pool (FREE!)
One of Cambridge’s best kept summer secrets! A clean and non-crowded free swimming pool! OK, so there are no white tuxedo-clad waiters serving up cocktails on lounge chairs– in fact, there are no chairs at all. But this is a FREE outdoor pool on Cambridge side of the Charles River.
Memorial Drive b/w BU Bridge and River Street Bridge in Cambridge, MA

Mirabella North End Outdoor Pool ($3)
With two outdoor pools, a snack bar, and changing area this pool is a deal. Check it out!
Commercial St in Boston, MA

Brookline Kirrane Pool ($8 for non-residents)
Located at the Brookline Hills T stop, this pool is a little out of the way but accessible by the Green Line, and the cheapest indoor pool around.
Evelyn Kirrane Aquatics Center, 60 Tappan Street in Brookline, MA

MIT Zesiger Center ($15 per day)
This pool is actually an easy and pleasant 20 minute walk from Back Bay across the Mass Ave bridge. Inside you will find a gorgeous Olympic-size pool.
The Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center, 120 Vassar Street in Cambridge, MA
