Amy Chung is one of the many seniors here at Emmanuel College graduating at the end of this Spring semester. As the year draws to a close, Her Campus Emmanuel asked Amy, the SGA president, her thoughts on her college experience and also for some words of wisdom to the underclassmen.
HCE: Can you list some clubs and leadership positions that you hold on campus?
AC: On campus, I am the Executive President of the Student Government Association, a member of the 1804 Society, and an Admissions Ambassador. I am also a part of Omicron Delta Kappa (the leadership honor society), Sigma Tau Delta (the English honor society), and Kappa Gamma Pi (the National Catholic College Graduate honor society). In the past, I have served as an Orientation Leader and SAGE mentor.
HCE: What major and minor (if any) are you graduating with?
AC: I am graduating with a major in English: Communication, Media, and Cultural Studies and a minor in Management.
HCE: What is the number one thing that you will miss about Emmanuel College?
AC: The thing I will miss most about Emmanuel is the community. I will miss walking around campus and always seeing a friendly face!
HCE: What is one memory or story you have that really defines your college experience?
AC: I’m not sure I can define my Emmanuel experience in one memory or story; my four years have truly been a compilation of a multitude of wonderful memories and stories.
HCE: How have your leadership positions, particularly your time as SGA president, shaped you as a person?
AC: My leadership experiences have truly shaped me as a person. They have given me the opportunity to grow as both a person and a leader. I have gained a self-confidence that I never had before and new perspectives and outlooks on dealing with diverse groups of unique individuals.
HCE: What is some advice you offer to underclassmen now that they have had a little taste of college life?
AC: My advice for underclassmen is to do thing you’re passionate about! If you don’t feel dedicated to something, don’t do it. Explore, take the time to find what you love, and do it! And remember, everyone does things at their own pace; there is no timeline or rubric to follow, just take your time to explore and fall in love with what you do.
HCE: What is something that you wish to tell the rest of the seniors as you all prepare to leave Emmanuel and begin your lives in the real world?
AC: I hope the rest of my graduating class knows just how much of an impact they have made on me and the Emmanuel community as a whole. There are some influential leaders and amazing role models that will be crossing the stage with me in just a few days and I hope they know just how incredible they all are.
HCE: What is something that you wish you had done, or perhaps just something you would’ve done differently while at Emmanuel?
AC: Hmm… I’m not sure there is anything I would have done differently.
HCE: What is your biggest accomplishment thus far?
AC: That’s such a loaded question, but I’d like to think my biggest accomplishment thus far is making it through four years of higher education and graduating!
