The arts are so important because they help people look at life experiences through different mediums and put people in touch with their emotions. We believe that everyone should experience as many forms of art as possible. That’s why we’ll be posting about all the different arts events going on around Boston every month! Without further ado, here’s the first installment of our “Spotlight on the Arts” series… Enjoy!
Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella- The Musical
Where: Boston Opera House
When: Now through October 11th
With a student I.D., you can go to the Opera House two hours before curtain (which is at 8:00 P.M.) and buy a student rush ticket! Student rush tickets for Cinderella are $25 and the box office gives the best available ticket! Only one ticket is allowed per person.
The World Goes ‘Round
Where: Emmanuel College Auditorium
When: October 16th and 17th at 7:00pm
The World Goes ‘Round is a student directed piece by senior Joseph Deauna. The World Goes ‘Round is a musical featuring songs written by Kander and Ebb from some of their most famous musicals, including Chicago and Cabaret. Admission is free! To ensure you get a seat, a reservation table can be found in the Jean Yawkey Center during lunch and dinner periods the week before the show.
Boston Ballet Presents Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler: A Ballet by John Neumeier
Where: Boston Opera House
When: October 22nd through November 1st
Boston Ballet also offers student rush tickets! Student rush tickets are $25 with a student I.D. and only one ticket is permitted per student. Tickets can be bought the day of the performance at the Opera House box office.
Improv Boston Presents: Gorefest
Where: Improv Boston
When: October 22nd through October 31st
GoreFest is a series of Halloween themed improv shows! Since this is a special ImprovBoston event, it is encouraged that you order your tickets online prior to the day of show. Unfortunately, there are no student ticket offers. However, other ImprovBoston shows such as their acclaimed Mainstage performances offer student rush one hour prior to show time. GoreFest performances will be Wednesday-Saturday during the dates listed above. To purchase tickets, visit www.improvboston.com/gorefest. Warning: wear something you wouldn’t mind getting sprayed with fake guts!
Museum of Fine Arts Exhibition: Herb Ritts
When: Now through November 8th
Where: Museum of Fine Arts
Herb Ritts was a leading American fashion photographer. The exhibit of some of his prints celebrating the human body is leaving next month, so see them while you can! Admission to the MFA is always free with a student I.D.!

When: October 29th from 7:00 – 9:45 P.M.
Where: Museum of Fine Arts
A night at the museum specifically for college students! Meet students from other colleges and appreciate some art for free with your student I.D. when you enter.Â
