When Is The Appropriate Time to listen to Christmas Music?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

Now that halloween is over, we can finally ask the important question of when a good time to start listening to christmas music is. Personally, I love the holidays because of the music, the Christmas lights in Boston, and to me the most important part is spending time with my family. Music, although, is pretty up there in a sense of I love the joy it brings me and that winter is here.

I personally think that people can start listening to christmas music now, and still be able to give Thanksgiving its time. When Halloween passes that’s when I start to listen to holiday music, but for others some may wait till after Thanksgiving to start. I was curious and wanted to know what other people thought/when they started listening to it, so I put up a poll on the whiteboard outside my dorm and asked if people started listening to Christmas music either after halloween or after thanksgiving. As of right now the results are 4 votes for after Halloween, and 2 votes for after Thanksgiving. It has only been a week since November started, so gradually I expect people to slowly start to listen to Christmas music.

I will continue to play my favorite Christmas songs as the days leading up to December come faster. My songs that are on repeat are “Baby Please Come Home” by Mariah Carey, “Silver Bells” by Dean Martin and “Underneath the Tree” by Kelly Clarkson. Happy Holidays everyone!
