Summer has come and gone, and unfortunately, it’s no longer neon season. But since the end of those daring summer hues, one color has wiggled its way into fall. While the muted comfort colors of autumn take center stage, this bright blue can still have that neon electric effect without blinding the girl who has begrudgingly transitioned her wardrobe from hot pants and neon pink to denim and neutrals.

In fact, this color has been SO successful that it has travelled across seasons and can still be worn pretty much anywhere and anytime. It’s bright and beautiful cobalt blue.

On campus here at Emory I’ve seen everything from cobalt blue tops to cobalt accessories, cobalt maxis to cobalt minis. I haven’t seen it yet—but I’m really excited for that brave campus fashionista who breaks out the cobalt blue peacoat when it gets cold.

The color is (wait for it, you’re going to love this) universally flattering. You can’t be too pale to wear it!

Try pairing a cobalt blue top with black or regular jeans.

A great, creative way to wear cobalt blue is with a yellow piece: try a bright yellow clutch or a mustard skirt. I’m also obsessed with the little pop of leopard print (more on that later).

Try dressing it up a little with a pair of cobalt pants or trousers and a blazer!

This Emory senior pairs her cobalt blue structured sheath with a statement necklace and patent black pointy-toed heels. Great outfit, Catie!

Keep in mind that cobalt blue is striking—don’t get too ambitious. Pairing it with true black or clean white keeps with the streamlined look that designers all over the world had in mind. Don’t be bummed that your relationship with neon is temporarily on hold. Break out something new with cobalt blue!
