Not all of us are lucky enough to be morning people, but the good news is that there are ways to make the mornings slightly better – even though you want nothing more than to hit snooze and sleep until noon.
1. Get all your stuff ready the night before!
I am a genius when it comes to showing up to classes with all the wrong books, or better yet – no books at all! I can assure you this tried and tested tip of packing your bag the night before is a lifesaver. By collecting everything that you scattered out from studying the night before, you are way less likely to forget something as you rush out the door the next morning – plus you can probably squeeze in a couple extra minutes of sleep!
2. Get up early
As ironic as it sounds, getting up earlier when you aren’t a morning person surprisingly makes the mornings much easier. I used to wake up 30 minutes before class and just run, praying I’d make it to class on time. Once decided to start my mornings earlier a whole lot of stress suddenly disappeared – sometimes there’s even time to choose an actual outfit, as opposed to the usual leggings and baggy shirt get up.
3. Eat breakfast
It gives you the energy to start the day and kick starts your metabolism. If you don’t feel like making scrambled eggs or just pouring yourself a bowl of cereal, Cox and Kaldi’s have delicious breakfast options (the double chocolate muffin at Kaldi’s is a game changer).
4. Take time to yourself
Watch some Netflix while you enjoy your breakfast and take time to de-stress before you get your day started. This starts your day off relaxed and with a clear mind. If you’re in need of some MAJOR de-stressing, you could also try some meditations during this time – there are a bunch of recording on Spotify!
You may not be a morning person, but that doesn’t mean the mornings have to suck. If you try taking advantage of your mornings rather than dreading them, you can start your morning off on the right foot and be ready for a day of energy and productivity!
