It’s about that time: there’s a chill in the air on the way to class, and we’re all starting to pull out our favorite fall pieces. Whether it’s your favorite pair of jeans, a rich and warm cable-knit sweater, or maybe your beloved short booties—it’s time to add some edge. So let’s talk military strategy.
Army green isn’t just trending RIGHT now; it’s continually trending. Every fall we see the runways clad in army green mixed with textured leather and grungy cool tees. And every fall on Emory’s campus, girls break out their version of military chic. Whether you add a structured army green utility jacket, fresh dark green pants, or a little bit of camo (without looking like you’re off to the mountains for a quick deer hunt), you can pull off this look.
Whichever way you choose to adorn yourself in the only color besides classic red, white, and blue that is considered undoubtedly patriotic, there are many ways to rock it. And keep in mind; it can serve as a neutral!
A couple ideas:
1) Throw a structured utility jacket over a tank with a pair of jeans to stay cool, casual and comfy.
2) BLACK: Army green may be the new fall black, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t look amazing with black jeans and black leggings. Take notes from Emory senior Elena Hogenesch, who rocked her utility jacket on one of the first chilly mornings of this semester with her favorite black jeans and short boots.
3) The army green pant: Let me first start with the phrase: “I love army green pants, but…” they are easily worn incorrectly. The best piece of advice? Wear them simply and don’t go overboard with too many pockets (they aren’t supposed to be cargo pants), the length too long or the style too baggy. They’re definitely best worn with something solid, white, black or grey.
4) If you want to try the whole camo thing, go for it, but stick to one piece. Think street style; own the look and get creative with it.
