As we know, the Atlanta winter is marked by rain, not shine. Even as I type this article, there’s a mini-monsoon outside! So, instead of preparing for snowstorms, like our friends in the Northeast, we Emory students need to prepare for the upcoming onslaught of showers.
I love trench coats. There is no easier way to make yourself feel put together than throwing this on top of an outfit. Whether you’re going casual in jeans and a tee shirt or a little more dressed up in pretty little black dress, you can’t go wrong with putting on a trench coat.
While there are many different trench coat styles, I recommend always looking for one with a belt, so it could cinch you in at your waistline and create a figure. If your jacket is long and shapeless, it can be easy to get lost underneath all of the material.
However, if you do want to go for a long trench without the belt, make sure that it fits properly! Going for an oversize look does not mean buying something that is three sizes too big for your frame. If you want to go big (or go home), opt for something that is described with as an ‘oversized fit,’ and then buy it in your regular size. I guarantee that it’ll still be loose, but definitely way more flattering than something that doesn’t fit you properly.
Remember, rain or shine, you can always look fabulous in a beautiful trench!
