Cute, Cheap Holiday Décor and Where to Find it

The holidays are just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than decorating? Thanksgiving break is the perfect opportunity to go shopping for some cute, inexpensive trinkets to bring back to your dorm.  Even if you miss out on the sales of Black Friday, fear not! There are several stores that are selling holiday materials for under $15 right now – here’s a list to give you some guidance and inspiration.

  1. Tinsel Tree ($3)

Five Below is exactly what its name promises – everything they sell is five dollars or less! Their holiday collection range is actually quite impressive; from toy packages to Christmas garlands and cozy pajama clothing, they have it all! They even sell these little tinsel trees for $3 in either green or gold. You don’t want to sleep on this store, it’s a real college money-saver!

  1. Hanging Honeycomb Santa Claus ($4.08)

If you’re looking for a cute and easy- to-assemble decoration to hang somewhere in your dorm, Walmart is selling this adorable Santa Claus for only $4.08! Just make sure it’s hung high enough so you and your roommates don’t walk into it!

  1. North Pole Trading Co. Ho Ho Ho Indoor Christmas Garland ($12.99)

While a little bit more on the expensive side, this Christmas decoration would make the perfect festive addition to your dorm, especially if you plan on having a holiday party with friends! This particular one is 6 ft long (so keep space in mind) and can be found at JCPenney.

  1. Mini Cable Knit Christmas Stockings ($12)

A holiday dorm décor list would be incomplete if I didn’t mention mini stockings! You could put these stockings from Target anywhere in your room, and they’re a great way to share in the Christmas spirit with your roommates.   If you want to find cheap candy or small gifts to put in your roommates’ stockings, Fivebelow at the Liberty Tree Mall is one of the best places to go.

  1. Black Chalkboard Wooden Happy Holidays Sign ($5.75)

Hanging up this sign outside your door would be the perfect way to spread holiday cheer! If one of your roommates doesn’t celebrate Christmas, it would also be a good decoration to consider, since it encompasses all holidays.

  1. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Fleece Throw ($7.47)

This last item on the list is more a comfort accessory than a piece of décor, but it was so cute I just had to ‘throw’ it in! If you plan on watching Christmas movies in the dorm with friends or just want to get cozy yourself, definitely consider getting a blanket like this because it’s under $10! And you can always save it for next year ?
