Whether it’s a loved one’s birthday, your anniversary, or there’s an upcoming holiday, gifts can be a great way to show you care for someone. Although I love gift giving, it can sometimes be stressful or feel like a lot of pressure to give them something they like. Here are some of my favorite (somewhat budget friendly) gift ideas.
- Handmade Memory Board
-
One way to make sure your gift is personal is to literally personalize it. I love the idea of making someone a memory board of your friendship/relationship with a collage-like moodboard of things that remind you of them. If you search “memory board gift” on Pinterest, a lot of great inspiration for this comes up.
- Decorative Seasonal Item
-
Especially during the holidays, DIY-ing something seasonal can be super cute and budget friendly. You can make a winter village house out of paper, cardboard, and markers or paint, or you could buy a pre-constructed house or birdhouse from a craft store and decorate it for the season. You can turn it into a cute hummingbird cottage for the summer or a gingerbread house during the holiday season.
- Go Thrifting or Antiquing!
-
A very budget friendly idea is to go to your local thrift or antique store. Oftentimes you can find clothes or household items that remind you of the person you are gifting for, or even a brand new game or movie they would like. In the past, I’ve gotten my friends games and a basket for a gift basket.
- Bake Something
-
Something that your gift recipient will always enjoy is a sweet treat! Remember your loved one’s favorite flavors and see what you can bake up. There’s almost no going wrong with this one, and if it doesn’t work out, you can go to a local bakery instead. This can feel really personal to receive a gift that incorporates all your favorite tastes.
- Add A Handmade Card
-
If you’re feeling like your gift isn’t very personal, adding a handmade card is a huge act of kindness, even if it only takes a few hours and minimal supplies. Get really creative: make pop outs, add photos, use lots of colors and fun paper if you have it. There is a lot of inspiration online and tutorials for any origami-like aspects, but try to create from the heart!
Here are some rapid-fire ideas if you are still looking for inspiration: a candle, a throw blanket, LEGO, a painting/artwork, a gift card, a picture frame with a picture of you together, an ornament, a speaker, or fun/comfy socks!
