Every wavy-haired girl knows the many, many steps it takes to get that perfect hairstyle. But now, after many dollars spent and tons of TikTok’s watched, I have crafted my perfect routine to keep frizz, dried ends, and undefined waves away!

Leave-in conditioner

This is the key to starting a wavy routine correctly. Straight out of the shower, it helps to detangle your hair and also locks in moisture. Leave-in conditioner also smells so good. As an alternative, I also love hair masks; note that depending on the level of dryness of your hair, use them accordingly. I like the Dae and Eva NYC one!

Curl Cream

Curl creams are brilliant because, without them, my hair would be so frizzy. This adds moisture to your hair but also helps to start forming and defining your waves. My favorite is the Shea Moisture Curl Smoothie, and I have been using that one for a while. I also really want to try out the Lush Curl Cream because I’ve heard it does wonders!

Mousse

Now this product is my roman empire. Mousse keeps your waves in place since mousse can have gel as well as adding lots of volume to your hair. I haven’t tried many mousses because I found one I’m already obsessed with: Not Your Mother’s Mousse. It’s amazing.

Gel

This is the last step in my routine; make sure your hair is wet! Gel keeps your waves together. I try to find gels with a high hold because I find it makes my waves stay defined for longer. My favorite is the Eco Brand.

Oil

When I wake up the next day, after sleeping on a silk pillowcase, this is my last step. After shampooing, it’s really important to use products that add moisture back into your hair and oil is perfect for that. Putting the right amount is crucial though because you don’t want extra oily roots. I only use a small amount since I add oil multiple times throughout the week. I use OGX Coconut Oil and I recently tried the Vanilla Frenshe Body and Hair Oil which I also like. The next one I’m going to try is the Mielle Hair Oil which I’ve heard is great for growth!
