Marshall & Lily
Hands down the best couple of the entire show. This is for many reasons, starting with the fact that they met so young and grew together as a couple. The way they met in college was so cute and they forgot about the idea of seeing other people immediately. Marshall and Lily also had great chemistry as a couple and they balanced each other out while still being a cute and funny couple. They had a few bumps in the road which made their love even stronger. Finally, Marshall would do anything for her. This is why the couple is ranked first.
Robin & BarneyÂ
I will die on this hill that Barney is the BEST man that Robin has dated – 100% Team Barney. They are ranked at 2 because they were such similar people who didn’t really believe in love and they changed for each other! Barney had so much growth while dating Robin and when he realized that he liked her, it was so heartwarming. Now, they didn’t have the cleanest story because of the Ted history, but it doesn’t matter. The following quote represents Barney and Robin so well as a couple: “I’m a guy who thought love was just something idiots felt, but this woman has a hold on my heart that I could not break if I wanted to”. Stop it right now! In my mind, they are soulmates and should have been an endgame.
Tracy & Ted
This might be a hot take but I love them together. If you don’t know the show, it’s about Ted, a New York Architect trying to find his future wife. Ted throughout his twenties and early thirties dated the worst women because of this it took him years and nine seasons to find his wife, Tracy. The way they were almost connected for several years is so crazy and they represent the invisible string theory so perfectly. Tracy is nerdy like Ted is and I believe that she is the female version of him. They just clicked so well and the on screen chemistry was insane. I honestly wish we saw more of them together because my boy Ted was so in love with her. Tracy deserved so much better, if you know you know. Regardless they are ranked number three because I love them and inspire to be like them.
Ted & Robin
This couple is coming at four, which I know seems high but before they broke up I loved them. The love at first sight moment was perfect for them but honestly their break up needed to happen. They wanted such different things and were so fundamentally different. A hopeless romantic and a person who doesn’t believe in true love do not belong together. But before their breakup, I actually liked how they were different and the things Ted did for her made me sob. For example, him saying that he would have stolen a whole orchestra for her. This is a reference to when he stole a blue trumpet for her. After they broke up and dated other people, what they wanted changed, especially Robin and dare I say IT WAS BECAUSE OF BARNEY. Anyways, for Ted it was always about Robin and watching Barney marry her was awful but he was still so in love with her until he met Tracy. Therefore, it makes no sense that Ted and Robin ended up together! I just think that Robin and Barney getting divorced was super unrealistic and Tracy’s death had me sobbing. It felt like they only got together because they lost their previous loves.
Ted & Victoria
To be honest, I really liked them together. The way they met at a wedding and really played up their chemistry the whole night was amazing. I thought that she was the one for Ted, but as soon as Victoria was called to Germany for baking school I knew they were over. Once again, Ted was so invested in their relationship. Once she left it made so much sense for them to break up. I think that’s where their relationship should have ended but then she came back and left her wedding for Ted. This was a huge romantic gesture in the show and their relationship, not sure how I felt about it since Ted was left at the altar – Stella hater forever and always xoxo. The reason they fully broke up was because of Robin which was valid but I do wish they had more time together.
