Stuck inside on a sunny day because of approaching deadline week makes us second and third years realise that fresher’s have it easy. Here are some of the things we wish we had known back in our first year!
1. Branch out of the Mosaic-Timepiece-Arena triangle – Cellar door and the Cavern are great for an alternative night out.
2. Pizza is not its own food group
3. Don’t take first year too seriously – it doesn’t count!
4. Take pleasure in the little things – a drink with friends or lunch after a lecture
5. Make the most of Exeter’s location – we’re so near to the beach, and places like Double Locks are a great day out
6. Fresher’s 15 isn’t a myth
7. You really don’t need to buy every book on the reading list
8. Your student loan will eventually need to repaid
9. Make the most of the sun in Exeter – it doesn’t appear often
10. Get involved in more – you just don’t get the time after 1st year
