This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

This week Her Campus caught up with the sensational Charlie Brown – she gave us a few minutes to chat about her role as Tournament Sec in the mighty Exeter Tennis Society and her life to date at Exeter University. With candidly honest replies and a heart of gold, her company makes for a charming mix of hilarity and comfort. Be sure to say hello if you see her buzzing around campus, this girl is truly one of a kind!

How do you feel about being a campus celebrity?
Well, I didn’t know I was one, or even that such titles existed, but obviously I’m overjoyed.

What’s it like being part of the Tennis Club Committee?
It’s really good, they’re such a great bunch and the socials are always fun. But come on – I mean the best thing must be the Goldcard privilege – who wouldn’t!

How do you manage to balance work for your course, training and having a social life?

I don’t think I do manage to balance that at the moment! Although my main technique is usually making lists. I always start the list off with ‘write list’, so not only do they take ages but it means I can already cross something off when I finish it!

What’s it like playing under the newly covered courts?
Just for the record, before I answer, it’s important you know that the newly covered courts actually have a specific name – THE HANGER! And they’re good, pretty bouncy – so I prefer the surface in the old ones but less people see you in the hanger, which I prefer. So they have their ups and downs!

What do you do in your spare time besides training?

Ultimately I just love people and so I’m usually seeing friends and catching up with everyone. I’m a Christian and so I go to Christian Union on a Tuesday and then my church Riverside on Sunday. I’m currently in the process of arranging a project in Exeter called FORK, which will be raising money and awareness about hunger issues around the world. And then obviously the degree fits in the gaps. I’m also doing some Spanish this year as part of my degree, which is fun and nice to mix things up a little bit! I also love my housemates though and so a large amount of my spare time is spent with them just hanging.

Favourite night out in Exeter?

Depending on my mood, maybe Friday at TP – but Wednesday is usually where I am, so let’s go with that – it’s all about top top!

What are the top three most played songs on your iPod?

1. Lifening – Snow Patrol
2. How He Loves – Ben Cantelon
3. Hands Held High – Linkin Park

What would you say to anyone who is thinking of running for committee or joining Tennis club?

Just go for it. Tennis society is so great, you get so much coaching during the week if you want it, fitness, cardio tennis and the socials are fun – also free court time. We’re also the biggest sports society on campus so it’s a great way to meet new people.
