The Designer Diaries: My Funny Valentino

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Welcome to The Designer Diaries; your weekly high fashion injection. Here I’ll be giving you the low down on what all the major design houses are doing this season. I’ll be discussing my top picks when it comes to the Catwalk, Fashion week and Haute Couture. (Being a hopeful Fashion Illustrator, you might get the odd sketch out of me too).

This week, it’s all about Valentino.

The Valentino collection, glided down the cat walk in the Paris haute couture week, looking classy and sexy in white floaty gowns covered in seductive lace and jewels. As per usual the show looked effortlessly easy (clearly not the case, as one of the dresses took an astonishing 1200 hours to make!!) Valentino is designed to make a woman feel sexy, loved, individual and, well… womanly. The Italian Fashion House creates dresses so beautiful that even the most tomboyish of girls would find it difficult to try one of their stunning creations and not feel like a Princess. With Valentino focusing their attention on lace this season, they’re looking even more luxurious than normal. So if any brand were to be best suited to Paris fashion week, the most romantic city in the world, Valentino would be my Designer of choice. So I guess what I’m saying girls, is that if by some lucky chance you’re dating a Lord, Prince, King or the heir to some huge fortune…and he happens to present you with a Valentino bag, then he’s got to be a keeper (either that, or he’s got a worrying knowledge of woman’s fashion…)

Take a look the incredible videos about how they make their lace at http://www.valentino.com/en/home/. And if you’re thinking of following the trend, it’s all about big lace prints this season!
