There’s just something about a beautiful, shimmery new eyeshadow palette that makes us go weak at the knees. Here at HCX, we thought we’d give you a roundup of our favourites so you can add them to your wish list and maybe reward yourself with one for working so super hard during exams.
First up: the Naked Palette family. We’re not sure we know many girls that haven’t owned, used, or lusted after at least one of these bad boys, and it’s not hard to see why. All of the eyeshadows are super silky, pigmented and blend amazingly (although occasionally some of the glitter in the sparkly shades can end up falling out all over your cheek when you apply – beware). The warm tones of the original Naked palette, the cool shades of Naked2, the rosy hues of Naked3 and the dramatic metallics of the Naked Smoky mean there’s something to suit everybody. There’s also their mini, sophisticated sisters: Naked Basics and Naked2 Basics – the dream for matte eyeshadow lovers. Urban Decay, you spoil us. Owning a Naked Palette is essential for any beauty lover, unless you’re a crazy eyeshadow lady like us, in which case you know that you need them all.
In our eyes, Charlotte Tilbury is a genius. Her products are beautifully luxurious and if you haven’t watched her videos and tutorials on YouTube, you really should – although watch out, because she will make you want to spend silly amounts of money on makeup in pretty packaging that is guaranteed to make you feel fabulous, daaaarling. Her eyeshadow quads, although pretty pricey, are absolutely divine; gorgeous colours in the best formulation we’ve tried (and trust us, we’ve tried a lot). Our favourite picks to add some glamour to your make up bag are the Dolce Vita palette and the Golden Goddess.
Zoeva’s eyeshadow palettes are a recent but beautiful discovery of ours. You can’t buy them in shops in the UK, but you can order them from beautybay.com with free delivery. The fact that the eyeshadows are buttery soft, long lasting, and seriously pigmented means that the quality rivals more expensive brands like MAC (in fact, we’d say they’re better). At £15.50 for one of their smaller palettes of 10 incredible eyeshadows, and a range of palettes to choose from that cater for every girl’s needs, we don’t think you can do wrong. We think that their Cocoa Blend palette and recently launched Nude Spectrum palette are especially dreamy; perfect to create any day or night time look.
Go ahead girls – treat yourself!
