First dates can be challenging in many ways – the outfit, the location, let alone the date! So here’s a few Exeter first date ideas to give you some food for thought…Â
Â
Tea on the Green
A teashop a stone’s throw away from the Cathedral before the weather hits official winter, grab the chance to have a cute lunch date outside the Cathedral. With a cuppa in one hand and the other taking a snap of the most chocolatey of chocolate brownies (would 100% recommend with a Baileys latte if you have a sweet tooth!) you can truly relax. Not only are there 24 types of tea, they serve all breakfasts under the sun (and even wine and cocktails!) When gazing into your dates dreamy eyes or pretending to admire culture, if you go get shat on by some of Exeter’s finest inhabitants, it’s good lunch right? A cute floral tee with a skirt and some pink lippy wouldn’t go amiss here.Â

Tenpin Bowling
As cringey as it sounds, we all know bowling is a classic bit of banter. It gives you the crucial chance to shake the booty but also to get to know your date without having to sit and stare into their eyes for an awkward 2 hours. You can start with just the one game and if you want to really show your skills, round 2 is always on the cards. Then, if you like, follow it with a game of air hockey or a couple of drinks. Or it it’s going strikingly well then you can leave them feeling spare and head home. Make sure you wear those Adidas superstars to tick the ‘I’m a pro’ box, without having to wear those bowling shoes… The opportunities are endless, so a perfect date for someone who’s not too familiar.Â
Day trip to Exmouth
If you are looking for a good few hours to bond with your date, then this may be the one for you. Next Sunday, hope on the 10.44 to Exmouth at St David’s and glide straight into one of the most picturesque spots on the Devonshire coast. The wafts of battered cod and Mr Whippy are somewhat inescapable but this adds to the vibes of a chilled date. Whether walking along the coast and tucking into a brunch with a free drink at the Hungry Horse is your thing, or wondering around the Wednesday farmers market in the square, Exmouth has it all. Just grab a tennar and a cute bobble hat and you are good to go.Â
Monkey Suit – a swanky cocktail bar
A slightly more basic first day, but hey who doesn’t love a cosmopolitan? Even better when it’s 2 for 1 cocktails (all day on Monday!), so you could even have a pre pres for a DSP night out. Don’t worry if cocktails aren’t your thing, they do a range of craft ales and have been known to create a mocktail however you fancy. With the classic wooden tables and adorable fairy lights, it’s the perfect setting for a ‘getting to know you’ date. Shove on the blackest joni jeans you own with a nice top, maybe even some heeled boots if you are feeling fancy.Â
We hope you found these suggestions useful, enjoy your date!
